EBKUST ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE TRAINING

The Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology has organized a three days training from the 22nd – 24 May 2019, at the Magburaka Secretariat for staff and administrator’s across the three campuses.

The Vice Chancellor and Principal in his welcome statement drew participants attention to the fact that these three constituents campuses had their own traditional ways of handling their finances independently before now.

As our operational areas increased we see the need to adopt the 21 st century technology which is the financial management quick books application packages now largely used, to enhance auditing that will project EBKUST into a more enviable institution.

The Senior Finance Officer spoke about the expectations which are outline as follows;

A. The finance manual should be implemented thereby allowing Campuses to operate independently whiles the Secretariat plays a supervisory role.

B. To have an automated system of accounting which will ultimately ease the pressure of reporting.

C. To have well structured charts of  account with uniform codes that’s cut across Campuses.

D. To have a system of accounting to that captures students data in terms of fees paid and outstanding fees.

E. To help finance officers inculcate the culture of exhibiting prudent financial management techniques in executing their functions.

F lastly to help develop a consolidated asset register of the University by applying relevant depreciation policy as enshrined in the finance manual.

All these indicators geared towards moving from the traditional financial management system into a more automated kind of system.
