Information Communication and Technology Unit
The Vision, Mission and role of Information Communication Technology (I.C.T) Units shown below:
Infrastructure and Service (IS) Unit: The I.C.T Infrastructure & Services Unit is committed to the development, implementation and support of network systems and technologies that reinforce the University mission as a provider of high-quality I.C.T infrastructure. Network Services include adequate connectivity for most of today’s high-speed network and computing needs. The EBKUST I.C.T Unit staff provides support to colleges / Faculties / departments / units to aid in determining the type of connection needed to link the workstations and labs.

Mission: To build, deploy and support innovative, quality and sustainable I.C.T Infrastructure and service that meet the changing I.C.T needs of the University.
Roles and Responsibilities
Create and manage the physical layer connectivity of new and existing campuses, buildings, classrooms, offices and laboratories
Create and manage the Internet Protocol (IP) layer connectivity
Plan, implement and manage the Internet connectivity
Creating acceptable use policy for the network and Internet
Secure the network from Internal and external threats
Monitor real time status of the physical and logical connections
Log and audit network access
Create and manage application-ready local cloud infrastructure
Update and patch the operating systems and middle ware in data centers
Plan, implement and manage internal communication and collaboration platforms (email, portal, unified communications, etc.)
Plan, implement and manage online and offline backup
Plan, implement and manage patch and end point malware protection for campus users and staff workstations
Plan, implement and manage central Identity management solution for existing and new systems to be implemented
Teaching and Learning Technology (TLT) Unit
The main aim of Teaching and Learning Unit of ICT, is enriching and fostering the teaching learning process and educational system supported by ICT technological tools and materials of e-learning system, digital library system, building smart class rooms and video conference; website services, digital signage and FTP server to the university community and the general internet community.
The Teaching and Learning Unit of ICT has taken a responsibility of creating academic community that is empowered and enriched by ICT technologies and offset the depersonalizing learning effects of large classes.
Vision: To transform the traditional method of learning-teaching to advance ICT services and tools.
Mission: To provide and utilize innovative ICT services and tools that support learning-teaching and research activities.
Technical Support and Maintenance (TSM) Unit
The objective of the ICT Technical Support and Maintenance is to provide flexible customer-oriented ICT services to the EBKUST user by receiving problem calls, requests, inquiries and on all the solutions that the appropriate ICT personnel meets the needs of every staff and student . The Technical Support and Maintenance Service is available during working hours, Monday-Friday, 8: 00 am to 5:00 pm.
Roles and Responsibilities
Single point of contact for ICT related issues, problems.
Provide quick services to its users, problem identification, support and resolution functions to staff and students.
Record and monitor problems being reported to ICT, update users on status of problems and report on service level metrics for services provided.
Compile a knowledge base of problems and solutions, for use by first level support personnel
Track and report on Service Level performance.
Maintenance of failed office equipment (printer, ups, Desktops, laptops, phones, network devices)
Keep an inventory of maintained and replaced items.
Business Application Development and Administration (BADA) Unit
This unit allows the University to standardize software development, resulting in better resource utilization, a more consistent outcome and a higher quality software product delivered to end users. Having standard will ensure maintainability and security of the software.
Maintenance of Systems in use may be done depending on the type of maintenance required. If the maintenance is related to fixing bugs/errors in the working system, it will be done the soonest possible once request is submitted from the user. However, maintenance related to additional functionality demand may seriously be assessed and incorporated as a new version (to be numbered) within defined period of maintenance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Analyzing business processes of different sections of the university and come up with automation solution
Automate and facilitate the student-instructor communications
Automate and facilitate the full life-cycle activities of students and staff (from enrollment to graduation/resignation/retirement)
Verify the compatibility and scalablilty on different business automation application going to be implemented by the University.
Training and Consultancy (TC) Unit
Training and Consultancy Unit is a key service to the university and various organizations and communities around the university to build human capital and technically capable employees. The Training and Consultancy Unit is one of the prominent figures in the ICT unit as there are a lot of training for users and staff.
The unit has been studying the training needs both for the ICT team members and the university community to sanitize professionalism in the usage of ICT services. ICT Training and Consultancy Service Unit is highly linked with the core activities of the University. ICT skills for educational purpose, teaching and research
Roles and Responsibilities:
Arrange training for the ICT team
Plan Inter-ICT Team knowledge and exchange sharing
Arrange training for campus users and staff about newly implemented and developed applications
Create basic awareness on Internet, security, productivity tools, emerging technologies and new projects in ICT for the campus users and staff.
