Academic LEADERS

Dr. Foday Pinka Sankoh is Dean (ad interim) of the Faculty of Education at Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Port Loko University College. He holds a B,Sc. in Science Education, a Master’s degree in Education (M.ED) from Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science Management from Harbin Institute of Technology, People’s Republic of China. Dr. Sankoh is a long standing lecturer in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Science Education and an adjunct lecturer, Measurement and Evaluation, Department of Pedagogical Sciences. Currently he serves as Chairman, Committee of Deans, and Member of a number of University committees including Executive Committee of Senate, Curriculum Sub-committee, Promotions and Appointments Committee, and Research and Innovation Sub-committee as well as the Coordinator of the FAWE Distance Education Programme, Port Loko University College.

Mr. John Boaart Kanu is Dean (ad interim), Faculty of Media and Cultural Studies at Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Port Loko University College. He holds a Teacher’s Certificate (T.C) from Bo Teachers’ College, Higher Teachers’ Certificate (H.T.C) from Milton Margai Teachers’ College, Bachelor’s degree (B.ED) in Practical Art from Milton Margai College of Education and Technology and a Master’s degree (M.ED) in Educational Administration from Njala University. Mr. Kanu has extensive teaching experience in both primary and secondary Schools. He is currently lectures in Practical Art and Educational Administration at Port Loko University College.

Abdul Karim Koroma is Dean (ad interim) of the Faculty of Religious and Inter-faith Studies at Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Magburaka University College. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science from Fourah Bay College (USL), a Master of Arts in Peace and Development Studies (PADS) from Njala University, and a Certificate in Islamic and Arabic Language Studies from the Arabic Islamic College, Magburaka. He is a lecturer in Islamic Studies, Conflict and Peace Studies, and Government and History. Currently, he is a member of a number of University Committees including Executive Committee of Senate, Curriculum Sub-committee, Promotions and Appointments Committee, Research and Innovations Committee. He is the University’s representative in the SPHEIR Project.

Mr. Albert Saybom Turay is currently the Dean (ad interim), Faculty of Social Sciences, Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Port Loko University College. He is also Acting Vice Principal and Director of Studies as well as Coordinator of Distance Education. He was a long standing teacher and head teacher of primary and secondary schools, head of the Social Studies Department and a Principal Lecturer at the erstwhile Port Loko Teacher’s College. He holds a Teacher’s Certificate (T.C) from Bo Teacher’s College, a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A) in Education (Geography and English Language) from Njala University College, a Master of Science (M.SC) in Rural Development also from Njala University College and a post graduate certificate in senior management in educational administration.

 

Dr. Allieu Badara Kabia (BSc. Hons. Financial Services, MSc. Economics, PhD. Industrial Economics) is currently a lecturer and Sub-Dean (ad interim), Faculty of Social Sciences at the Ernest Bai Koroma University  of Science and Technology (EBKUST). He has also served as lecturer and Head of Department of Business Administration and Management (BAM) and Head of Department of Economics at the University of Makeni. Dr. Kabia worked at the Bank of Sierra Leone for a period of about 11 years as Clerk, Banking Officer and Bank Supervisor in the Departments of Banking and Banking Supervision respectively. He is an author, a peer reviewer and an Editorial Board member for recognized International Journals. He was also a Research Fellow in the School of Economics at Liaoning University, PR China, where he also doubled as the Director, Liaoning University’s Society of International Academic Research (LUSIAR). Dr. Kabia is also a United Nations Research Scholar under the United Nation Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

 

Mr. Manso Mohamed Koroma is Dean (ad interim), Faculty of Basic Health Sciences, Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Makeni University College. He also serves as focal person for the UNICEF teacher training activities at the former Northern Polytechnic. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Zoology from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone; and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Biology from Njala University.

Dr. Maurice Baimba Kargbo is Dean (ad interim), Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources Management, and Director of the Centre for Continuing and Distance Education, Makeni University College, Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agricultural Education from the Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone; Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Agricultural Education from Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone; and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Crop Cultivation and Farming System from South China Agricultural University. He started his academic career as Teacher, Gbendembu Baptist Secondary School; and later appointed Lecturer, Makeni Teachers’ College, and subsequently Principal Lecturer, Northern Polytechnic.

Mr. Philip Raymond Sesay is Dean of Campus (ad interim) of the Government Technical Institute (GTI), Magburaka, a constituent of the Magburaka University College, EBKUST. He holds the B.Sc. Educ. and M.Ed. Educational Measurement & Evaluation degrees of Njala University. Mr. Sesay is a long-standing lecturer of Mathematics and Chemistry at the erstwhile Northern Polytechnic, Makeni. In addition to being Dean of Campus, he is also a member of the following University committees: Court, Executive Committee of Senate, Committee of Deans, Curriculum Committee, Research and Innovation Committee, and the Appointment and Promotions Committee.

 

Dr. Brima Turay is currently a lecturer and Dean (ad interim), Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Makeni University College. He had also served as lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Makeni, and lecturer at the China Police Criminal College in Shenyang, Peoples’ Republic of China. Before opting for a career in the university, Brima Turay taught at the Port Loko Catholic Secondary School in Port Loko and the then Miatta Secondary School Lunsar and now Muraldo Secondary School. Brima Turay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Master’s degree in International Economics, Science and Trade and a Doctoral degree in Economics with special concentration in Population, Resources and Environmental Economics from the School of Economics at Shenyang, Liaoning University in the Peoples’ Republic of China.
